Our Story

B2 Photo LLC was formed in November 2013 by Ben Brownlee and Bobby Mizia when their individual photography companies merged into a collaborative partnership.

We met working as photographers for The Pitt News, the University of Pittsburgh's student-run newspaper.  Our shared passion for photography led us to the idea of starting a business together, allowing us to share in both the costs and rewards of the profession.  Today, our combined 20+ years of experience allow us to offer a wide range of services to our clients.

We are based in Washington, DC and Phoenix, AZ, and we love to travel. We visit friends and family and work with clients across the country. With enough advanced notice, no job is too far.

Our clients enjoy our creativity, our value, and our ability to work collaboratively with our subjects. While we began as action sports photographers, in recent years we have started to focus our efforts on portrait photography. While we can tackle any project that comes our way, we have developed a passion for portraits and would love to work with you soon!

Photography has been a passion of mine since picking up my first dSLR camera in high school.  Throughout most of college, Ben and I operated our own individual companies until we met in 2013. B2 was the successful combination of our skills and experience, and we have enjoyed learning from each other along the way.

Photographing Pitt football games are definitely one of my favorite college experiences. Ben and I once traveled with the Pitt News staff to Annapolis, Maryland for a Pitt-Navy football game, and the atmosphere at Navy was absolutely incredible. It embodied everything I enjoy about football, photography, and my overall college experience.

I recently moved to Chandler, AZ from the Philadelphia area with my fiance and our golden retriever. I work full-time as a consultant for Deloitte and love working on any photography project outside of that. When not at work, you can probably find me on the golf course, traveling with my girlfriend, or spending time with my family.

I picked up my first camera, an old film Olympus body, while attending Trinity High School in Washington, PA. Mark Marietta was my photography teacher and I credit him with 100% of my passion and success. I turned my hobby into a business while at Washington & Jefferson College and the University of Pittsburgh.

I was lucky enough to capture the action of Division I sporting events,  cover political campaigns, work with non-profit organizations, and meet my business partner Bobby while at the University of Pittsburgh. We immediately hit it off and it's been an amazing adventure ever since.

Outside of photography, I am an  Officer in the Army Reserve. I deployed to Iraq in 2015-2016 and Afghanistan in 2018-2019, where I met some of the best friends I will ever know. These adventures forever changed the way I see the world and taught me the discipline necessary to run a small business.

Most of my work is in and around the National Capital Region, from Richmond to DC. Bobby and I love to travel, and generally no job is too far for our next adventure.
